Terms of Service
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Plain-language summary
- Listenkeep is a gateway platform. Authors sell and deliver through it, but the author is the seller and is ultimately responsible to their customers: the books, what the page promises, refunds, disputes, support and tax. Readers pay the author's own Stripe account.
- Listenkeep delivers the books: the book page, the in-browser player, and personal downloads stamped with the reader's name.
- Plans are billed monthly or yearly. Founders is free, so you can try everything before you pay. Yearly plans can be refunded in full within 14 days; monthly plans aren't refunded. Cancelling keeps your plan until the end of what you've paid for.
- Digital (AI) narration is welcome, but it must be labeled. No stolen, illegal or misleading content.
- Readers get a personal link for their own use, on up to 3 devices. Please don't share it.
1. About these terms
Listenkeep ("Listenkeep", "we", "us") runs listenkeep.com, author pages on listenkeep.com and its subdomains, author pages on authors' own domains, and short links on lsk.onl. These terms apply to everyone who uses them: authors who sell or give away books ("authors", "you") and the people who buy, receive or listen to them ("readers").
By creating an author account, buying or claiming a book, or using a listening link, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email authors and update the date above before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Listenkeep after that means you accept the new terms.
2. For authors
Your account
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. Keep your password safe; you're responsible for what happens under your account.
- Give us accurate details, including a working email address. We use it for account, billing and policy notices.
- Your API key works like a password. Keep it private.
You are the seller
- You are ultimately responsible to your customers. Listenkeep is the gateway platform you sell and deliver through; it is not the seller and not a party to your sales. What you sell, what your page and emails promise, delivery problems your readers raise with you, refunds, support and any claims from your readers are yours to handle.
- Readers pay your own Stripe account, connected through Stripe. You are the seller of record. Your relationship with Stripe is governed by Stripe's own terms.
- You are responsible for sales tax, VAT and other taxes on your sales, for your prices, and for following the laws that apply to your sales.
- You handle refunds, chargebacks and disputes from your Stripe dashboard. When you refund a sale in full, Listenkeep switches off that reader's link and gives back our fee on that sale.
- For copies you ship yourself (paperbacks, signed copies), you are responsible for shipping them, for their condition and for the shipping promises on your page.
- Your readers' contact details are yours to use under the law and your own privacy promises. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle them on your behalf.
What Listenkeep does
- We host your book page, deliver audiobooks through our in-browser player, and prepare personal downloads (audiobook M4B files and EPUB ebooks) stamped with the reader's name.
- We apply delivery limits to protect your books, such as 3 devices per listening link and a set number of personal downloads, and we may alert you when a link looks shared.
- We send delivery and account emails on your behalf. Replies from readers go to you.
- We work hard to keep Listenkeep running, but we can't promise it will never be down or error-free.
3. Plans and fees
- Founders is free: 1 book, with a 2.5% success fee from your first checkout sale, and up to 25 free copies a month sent outside checkout.
- Plus is $10 a month or $100 a year (5 books). Unlimited is $30 a month or $300 a year (any number of books). On paid plans, your first 25 checkout sales each calendar month (UTC) have no success fee; after that it's 2.5% of each sale.
- The success fee is collected through Stripe at the time of each sale. It's refunded when you refund that sale in full.
- Plans are billed in advance by card, through Stripe, and renew automatically until you cancel. Prices are in US dollars and don't include any taxes that may apply.
- Yearly plans: 14-day refund. If you change your mind about a yearly payment (new or renewal), email us at hello@listenkeep.com within 14 days of that payment for a full refund; your account moves back to Founders.
- Monthly plans aren't refunded. Cancel anytime and your plan runs to the end of the month you've paid for.
- Moving up a plan charges the difference for the rest of the period. Cancelling keeps your plan until the end of what you've paid for, then moves you to Founders. Apart from the 14-day yearly refund, plan payments aren't refunded, including for partial periods.
- We may change prices or plans. We'll give paid authors at least 30 days' notice by email, and changes apply from your next renewal.
4. Content and rights
Your rights and promises
- You keep all rights in your books, audio, covers and other content. You give Listenkeep a non-exclusive license to store, copy, convert (for example into streaming files and stamped downloads), display and deliver that content, only as needed to run the service for you and your readers, for as long as it's on Listenkeep.
- You promise that you own or control the rights to everything you upload, including the text, the narration, the cover, any music, and the right to sell each format where you sell it. Exclusive programs such as KDP Select are your responsibility.
- AI narration must be labeled. If any narration is synthetic or AI-generated, mark it when you set up the book. We show "digital narration" on your book page and in the player. You must also have the rights to the voices you use.
What isn't allowed
- Content you don't have the rights to, or that infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity rights.
- Illegal content, content that sexualizes minors, content that promotes violence against people, or malware.
- Misleading listings, such as false authorship, false narrator credits, unlabeled AI narration, or pages that pretend to be another author, publisher or store.
- Using Listenkeep to send spam, to collect payment details or passwords, or to attack, overload or probe our systems or anyone else's.
- Reselling or sublicensing Listenkeep's service itself without our written agreement.
We may remove content, pause a book or suspend an account that breaks these rules, and we'll tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Listenkeep infringes your copyright, email hello@listenkeep.com with: your contact details, the work you own, the Listenkeep page or link involved, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized, and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner, with your physical or electronic signature. We respond to valid notices, may take the content down, and tell the author, who can send a counter-notice. We close the accounts of repeat infringers.
5. Addresses and short links
- Each author has a handle that forms their address, such as listenkeep.com/yourname. On paid plans you can also use yourname.listenkeep.com or a domain you own.
- Changing your handle breaks your old links right away, and the old name becomes available to other authors. Update your website and anything you've printed. Short links keep working.
- Some names are reserved, including names of stores, publishers, platforms and our own services. We may refuse or reclaim a handle or subdomain that is misleading, infringes someone's rights, impersonates someone, or is unused for a long time. If we reclaim a name you're using, we'll tell you first unless it's urgent.
- To use your own domain, you must own or control it and point it at Listenkeep as shown in your dashboard. We get its security certificate for you. If your paid plan ends, your pages move back to your Listenkeep address and we may stop serving the domain.
- Short links on lsk.onl are run with our link partner, ittle.co. A short link points to your book's Listenkeep address. We may disable short links that are misleading or point somewhere they shouldn't.
6. For readers
- When you buy or receive a book, the author is the seller and is responsible to you for the sale, the book, refunds and support. Listenkeep is the platform the author uses to sell and deliver it. Contact the author first (replying to your delivery email reaches them).
- Your listening link and downloads are for your personal, non-commercial use. Please don't share, resell, upload or publicly perform them. Downloads carry your name.
- A listening link works on up to 3 devices; new devices are confirmed with a code sent to your email, and you can replace an old device. Personal downloads are limited in number. If a link looks widely shared, it may be switched off.
- If the author refunds your purchase in full, your link is switched off.
7. Closing an account
- You can close your author account at any time by emailing us. Your plan stops renewing, and your book pages come down.
- Your readers remain your responsibility. Before you close your account, download your reader list and make sure your readers have their copies (each listening page offers a personal download) or another way to get them. When your account closes, your readers' links stop working.
- If we close or suspend an account, we'll give the author at least 30 days' notice where we can, so they can export their readers and look after them.
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, that's used for fraud, or where the law requires it. Where we can, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem and to export your readers.
- Sections that by their nature should survive closing (such as fees owed, content promises, disclaimers and limits of liability) continue to apply.
8. The legal part
Disclaimer
Listenkeep is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't guarantee any number of sales.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Listenkeep won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to Listenkeep is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
Your responsibility to us
If you're an author, you'll defend and hold Listenkeep harmless from claims arising from your content, your sales, your taxes, or your breaking these terms or the law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Nebraska, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
Everything else
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Listenkeep about the service. If part of them can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver. You can't transfer your account without our agreement; we may transfer these terms if Listenkeep is reorganized or sold, and we'll tell you.
